Collaboration and Free online Postings

What the fuck? Almost anything I want can be found on the internet. One of the driving forces of this technology has been the home pornography business. Porn drives speed, the ability to download images and now movies. As Online porn increased allowing middle America to get its fix from the privacy (and thats a laugh unless you using some form of bit torrent blockers) the physical porn shop has whithered away. Not in my neighborhood while it is in many of the homes in that same neighborhood.

Sex, drugs, hedonistic pleasure have been driving forces behind many of the uses we have now. IM started at porn sites. Digital downloads of DIVX--porn and some of the encryption is pretty good as well. And it is not just men or women indulging in men's fantasies, there are fully formed porn sites for women attuned to the desires of women.

So why the RANT? Content and ownership. The web is notorious for getting downloads without paying for them. What the porn sites realized is that if they put out a teaser, a sample, then you might be coaxed into paying for the real content. this has been a very lucrative model.

Which brings us to copyrighted material. Recently Radiohead pre-released their newest album' for free suggesting fans pay what they thought the value was, latter releasing it in stores. It made money both ways. Now Harper Collins is seeing the potential for books. Check out American Gods by Neil Gaiman
