http://www.debugmode.com/wink/
Okay so I wanna do something much more clever to help. Screemaker is not accomplishing the task and like an tech idiot I try to video tape my computer scree. Try this if you like watching mHz black bars scroll! So with some more searching I discovered wink.
WINK operates in three modes, screen shot, flash animation and a combination.
What I really like is in continuous flash mode you can record at the same time as you do the screen work saving editing time. It works simply. CLICK-- do your thing on the screen educating with a voice over and save the project for HTML publication or in any format you choose.
I did HTML and a PDF version taking each screen that had logos and directions added on by me, so that if you lacked broadband you could still download the tutorial so that it would make sense as you tried to do the activity in mind, in this case activating UW Waukesha's OPAC.
I didn't like the voiceover. SO I added my own!
How?
I don't like IPOD because they make music proprietary and you need to use an outside resource to convert mp4 to mp3. Too long and besides who needs their WHOLE catalog all the f&%kin' time? So I used Sans Cruzer. 2GB plus recording. So I voice recorded on my cruzer while watching my presentation. Then I found out you can only add mp3 to one frame.
UGGGGH
So I downloaded Audacity http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/ and spliced and diced my audio to fit.
HOW IT ALL FITS TOGETHER:
I give a presentation in class without using wink or ppt. I have students come to the command console and demonstrate searching skills. I use the format that will be on the tutorial so it remains familiar. I also email a link to each student with the tutorial address.
Now I WINK what I did, add logos and semiotics to the screens to give students a reminder of what was taught. While my tutorials can be used alone, it is best when used in conjunction with a class in the Information Search Process ISP, using the resources available to them. I add audio commentary, editing it using Audacity and apply that to my WINK. finally I overlay a musical score to let the students know that is the need of a presentation.
